Intro

Our design for the livespeakr can be better described as epic journey against all odds of big business and everything else to put out a quality accessory the likes of which has never been seen before for the iPhone or iPod Touch. Today I’m going to give you a look inside what the development of the livespeakr looks like and attempt to explain why it is the essential accessory for the iPhone or iPod Touch.

Paint the Portrait

Drawing of the livespeakr

Indulge me for a second and imagine what life would be like if you had a livespeakr today.

Imagine clipping your iPhone in with the speakers completely hidden behind your iPhone (Fig. 6) You can now take your portable sound system anywhere you want and enjoy entertainment features as they were meant to be.

You rotate the livespeakr clockwise revealing the beautifully shaped speakers to release symphonic sound in portrait view of the media player. After the ballad is over you decide it is time to enjoy a movie, perhaps in your hotel room before the big conference (WWDC). You rotate the livespeakr clockwise again this time gracefully expanding the speakers to work with the wide screen viewing of your favorite movie. (Fig. 5) Extending the stand you have your choice of three viewing angles to make sure you can see the movie properly.

The high quality sound begins to hum the familiar introduction music to an epic sci-fi flick that you’ve seen a hundred times already but it never gets old. A friend enters the room and wants to hear that leaked podcast that reveals the details of the keynote speech your about to hear. You turn the livespeakr counter-clockwise back to portrait mode and indulge him. It is at this same time that a call chimes in and knowing it is a co-worker with great news you put him on speakerphone and using the livespeakr you can share a conference call without RF interruption.

After the conference is over and your long drive home starts you set the livespeakr in your passenger seat to read your latest audio book aloud as you begin your path towards home.

Life is good.
